Norway could be getting legal online poker for the first time. The government has opened a consultation that would allow state-owned Norsk Tipping to offer online cash games and tournaments.

There is a catch though. The proposal puts tight limits on the games, with a $250 cap for tournaments and a $1 maximum big blind in cash games, along with daily and monthly loss limits. The consultation deadline is set for November 29. Find more details on the official government site.

The aim is to move the estimated 100-150K players currently playing on unregulated sites into regulated games.
