PokerStars is well known for running some of the biggest online poker series around, most notably its ‘COOP’ festivals, the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) and the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP).
For players in the shared liquidity market of Portugal, Spain and France — a ring-fenced player pool separated from the rest of PokerStars’ players bases — the big annual series is the Southern Europe Championship of Poker (SECOOP). Now, with the operator increasing the guaranteed prizepools across the SECOOP schedule to a healthy €10M for the 2025 edition, players in those countries will be circling the dates in their diaries.
The dates in question are September 7-28, meaning SECOOP will kick off on the same day as WCOOP 2025 and run for almost as long (the latter ends just a few days later, on October 1). And, as with any large poker festival at PokerStars, there are some great opportunities to play large-field tournaments, win massive prizes, as well as bag some freebies along the way.
Mystery bounty events include the Sunday Million
Two of the series’ biggest tourneys will take the form of mystery bounty events, with the €250 Sunday Million (September 7) and the €250 Main Event (September 21) among those which will feature the possibility of winning big without even making the final table.
The Sunday Million will naturally carry a €1M guarantee, split between traditional payouts and mystery bounties, while the Main Event will award a prizepool of at least €400K.
Other highlights include the €50 Spicy 50 on September 14, which guarantees €200K, a €250 progressive KO high roller with €100K GTD (September 28), and the €125 Knockout Crown with €100K GTD (September 21). Buy-ins across the series will range from €10-250.
More than €300K in added value
Among the promotions running at PokerStars to support SECOOP is a special Power Path Express tournament on August 31, where players can use a Step 4 Power Path ticket to buy in directly. €150K in tickets will be awarded, including 360x Sunday Million tickets, 2x Gold Passes, 15x Silver Passes and 69x Bronze Passes.
A €75K Depositor Freeroll will also run, as well as a country leaderboard and a player leaderboard. The latter will award the Player of the Series with a trophy and a Gold Pass worth €9,300, while the country leaderboard will see players from the series’ most successful nation eligible to play a €20K freeroll.
Finally, the Star Spinner has been introduced as a temporary replacement for the Power Path Daily Reward. Players can spin the spinner to try to win tickets for the Power Path, Main Event and more, with losing players entered into an All-In Shootout with €7,700 in tickets given away every day until September 26.
Players in France, Spain and Portugal can find the full SECOOP schedule by searching ‘SECOOP online’.
