The first results are in from the 2024 World Series of Poker Europe festival at King's Resort in Rozvadov, Czechia, where Poland's Przemyslaw Szymanski has won bracelet gold in Event #1: €350 NLH Opener. Szymanski emerged from a 3,509-entry field to post his first career bracelet win and claim a career-best €115,350 score in just his second recorded WSOP cash.
Szymanski began Monday's action as a top-three stack among 20 European players that moved on to the Opener's final day, each fighting for the largest share of the tourney's €1,039,014 prize pool, which just topped its stated €1 million guarantee.
Szymanski struggled early on but limped into the final table as one of the shortest stacks. He was down to less than 10 big blinds after losing half of his remaining chips to then-leader Daniel Trunk, but from there on, Syzmanski ran pure, doubling up several times as he climbed back into contention while others hit the rail.
The charge to the top culminated during four-handed action when Szymanski's pocket kings held up against Albert Speranzoni's pocket jacks, pushing Szymanski into the lead. In the end it was a duel between Syzmanski and early leader Trunk, and in the key hand, fortune again went Symanski's way. Szymanski began the hand trailing Trunk and raised with , but Trunk called to see the flop with a lowly . The flop hit both players, and Trunk then called another Szymanski bet.
When the turn brought the , the chips went in, and Syzmanski faced elimination as the runner-up to Trunk's made trips. Szymanski needed one of the two remaining aces, and the then appeared, yanking the bracelet from Trunk's grasp and giving Trunk Syzmanski more than 85% of the chips in play. The end came soon after, when Szymanski again came from behind on the river to make two pair to top the all-in Trunk's better pair.
