The PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Main Event continued today in Barcelona with Day 2 action. The €5,300 buy-in drew a field of 1,823 entrants to generate a massive prize pool of €8,841,550.
On Monday, the 535 survivors from the Day 1 A/B fields returned to the Casino Barcelona – joined by a 139-strong contingent of Day 2 late registrants starting with fresh stacks.
Michael Dwyer, of Ireland, started proceedings with the chip lead. The UK's Mark Teltscher – winner of the EPT London Main Event back in 2005 – wasn't far behind while India's Bharath Janardhan rounded out the top three chip counts.
After a full day of play, only 205 players remain in the hunt for the EPT Barcelona title.
It was a day of utter carnage as the field whittled down towards the money bubble. When play reached hand-for-hand, it didn't take long for the bubble to burst – and once it did, the eliminations only intensified. Mohamed Zazri was the unlucky bubble boy this time around as his pocket pair was run down by an opponent's holding on the river.
Poland's Grzegorz Kozieja now leads the field as the only player to cross the seven-figure chip mark, with France's Sarah Jarry trailing close behind and her countryman Gabin Yves Henrion following.

Pick 3 runners still in it
PokerOrg's Pick 3 fantasy contest is in full swing now at EPT Barcelona – although the number of draft-able players still in the hunt has been reduced considerably.
If any of your squad members are still in the running, you're doing better than most.
Here's a quick update on the Pick 3 players who still have a pulse.
After starting the day at the top end of the chip counts, Teltscher finds himself in a good spot for Day 3 – sitting 26th in the chip counts with 502,000. Brock Wilson, fresh off of a pair of deep runs in the PokerStars Open and WSOP Main Events, is threatening a third. With 415,000 in the bag, he sits 46th in the counts.
Jose Ignacio 'Nacho' Barbero is just a few chips off from Wilson with 404,000 in the bag for Day 3. The Argentine is 47th of the remaining 205 players.
Dwyer was unable to maintain his start-of-day chip lead, but he's still in the fight with 273,000 in 82nd place. 2024 EPT Paris winner and former PokerStars Ambassador Barny Boatman floats on to Day 3 with 206,000 chips. Scotland's Dean Hutchison is close behind with 175,000. Nick Palma is in need of a spin up on Tuesday as his 48,000 chips – but he's got good company in the trenches with Mathew Frankland and Congya Zhang also nursing short stacks.
