Out of position, with a dominated hand, in a cash game with a $100K buy-in.
It’s not an ideal position to find yourself in, but then sometimes the poker gods smile on you.
That’s just what happened to Alan Keating in Hustler Casino Live’s ‘Mega Cash Mania’ game on Thursday. A bad hand preflop quickly turned into a great one, and then the stone cold nuts.
And the result was a $1M+ pot heading Keating’s way just before play ended for the day.
Watch the full hand below for a perfect illustration of the joy and pain poker can bring.
Former politician loses his seat
Scott ‘Palmer’ Fuhrman, a former political candidate making his HCL debut, raised to $2K from the button with before Alan Keating bumped it to $22K from the straddle with
.
Palmer called, the flop of guaranteed action, and that’s just what we got.
With a nicely disguised hand, Keating opened for $35K into a pot of $47K. Palmer, playing off a stack of over $800K, raised to $115K. Keating made the call.
The on the turn brought in quads for Keating and filled Palmer’s full house. It was checked through, and the
on the river changed nothing.
With the board suggesting a chop, Keating went for an overbet, sliding forward a stack of $390K into the $277K pot. Palmer immediately stood up and started going over the hand in his head.
After a few moments, he made his decision.
“You can’t take it with you; I call.”
He couldn’t take it anywhere, and Keating took it all. “I got it,” Keating said, turning over the nuts.
Palmer didn’t sit down again, walking around the room and eventually out the door repeating “What the f**k am I supposed to f**king do there?”
It would prove to be one of the final hands of the stream.
“What a perfectly ‘Alan Keating’ way for things to end tonight,” said the commentator. The huge pot put Keating up over $800K for the session.
Hustler Casino Live’s 'Mega Cash Mania' will be back at 1:30pm PT on Friday, though whether we’ll see Palmer back at the table for more is unknown. He may still be walking it off.
