“Is it possible Alex could do something really crazy here?”
For the commentary team on Thursday’s Hustler Casino Live stream, Alex Foxen appeared to be looking at an easy fold, but his delay — and perhaps a mischievous glint in his eye — hinted that something else might be about to happen. Watch the video above to see what went down in real-time.
Out of position against Francisco, who had 4-bet preflop holding , Foxen and his
were in some trouble. The blinds of $25/50/100 were an afterthought at this point: Francisco had upped it all the way to $7K from the hijack, and Foxen had been the only one to come along from the seat to his right.
Both players had flopped top pair but failed to improve as the board ran out . With his dominating kicker, Francisco had the tick mark by his name, but the hand wasn’t over yet.
Francisco had bet $7K on the flop, the turn was checked through, and when the river came, Foxen took a stab for $6K with his ace. With top pair, top kicker, Francisco made it $15K to go.
Foxen rolled his eyes.
'That's the worst thing that can happen'
What had been a thin value bet had run into serious opposition. Most players would lay it down. Alex Foxen isn’t most players.
After giving it some careful consideration, he went for the power play, putting Francisco all-in for the $75K he still had in front of him.
“Oh sh*t!” exclaimed Francisco. “That’s the worst thing that can happen to me.”
The table went silent.
In what could be construed as a subtle subconscious signal, a standing Nik Airball — who was well out of the hand — took a single chip from his stack and tossed it pointedly on the felt next to his chips before walking away. You might think he was deliberately making a point that a call was in order… we couldn’t possibly comment.
“Francisco probably isn’t the type to have ace-five here,” said the commentator, as Foxen’s unorthodox line began to make more sense, “he isn’t the type to have 8-7, or any sort of full house if it’s not aces. So he probably has ace-king or ace-queen, right? Is ace-king or ace-queen going to be willing to play for all the money?”
With over $136K in the pot and all his remaining chips at stake, Francisco had a tough decision to make.
Did Foxen get it through? Watch the full hand now in the video above.
