The countdown to the 2024 World Series of Poker is on. Each day until the start of the series on May 28, we'll bring you tips and insider info from some of the biggest names in the game.

Allen Kessler, aka The Chainsaw, travels the tournament circuit playing WPT, WSOP, HPT, and MSPT events. In 2013, he was the Heartland Poker Tour player of the year. Allen has more than $4.3M in career cashes. You can follow Allen on X.

How do you recommend players prep for the WSOP?

Just keep playing every day to keep sharp. After each event, note things you did well and mistakes you regret.

What event are you most looking forward to playing?

I most look forward to the $10K 8-game mix. Jack Effel added this event per my request and it would be amazing to win a tournament I asked to have added to the schedule.

What is the biggest event you will play?

It will probably be the $25K horse event, which I cashed in last year. But I might also play in the $50K Players Championship. I made the final table the last time I played it!

What's your favorite WSOP moment?

It was when I outlasted a star-studded $10K Stud 8 final table to get heads-up versus Frank Kassela for a bracelet. That was one of the most stacked mixed final tables I’d ever seen.

What are your food recommendations?

I basically walk on the Strip to McDonald's or Chick-fil-A on breaks. It’s too stressful to leave the venue in your car and deal with the traffic surrounding the center Strip area.

Also, there's a reasonably priced food court below the Horseshoe Casino with a Johnny Rockets, an Asian place, and a Sbarro as a quick, inexpensive option.
