There's a brand new poker podcast on the scene – brought to you by the good folks at the Triton Poker Series Productions – hosted by high-stakes regulars Seth Davies and Jonathan Jaffe. The Chirp & A Chair Podcast launched its first episode Wednesday, featuring a conversation between Davies, Jaffe, and comedian/host Pete Latham

Both Davies and Jaffe are seasoned professionals and frequent competitors on the Triton Super High Roller Series scene. Together, they provide a unique insight into the mentality necessary to succeed at the highest level in poker – ticking off all the boxes as they touch on topics ranging from emotional control at the table, to the impact of cryptocurrency on the high-stakes environment, to how backing deals work at the pinnacle of poker.

Jaffe's Monaco moment

Latham does his best to coax answers out of the two on which players have all of their own action and which players sell pieces, but the real nugget of information comes from Jaffe as he explains that his upcoming book will have specifics on all of the above – and more – through his interviews with Triton players.

There's a particularly great segment near the end of the episode where Latham asks the two if they've experienced a 'pinch-me moment' at some point in their careers. Jaffe knew his immediately – an experience at the tables with Phil Ivey that he'll never forget: "I sat down at my table, I don't remember which tournament, at the most recent Triton in Monaco and Phil Ivey looks at me and he goes, 'Hey' and then immediately asks me about a hand he played at the final table. I'm like, 'Am I in the real world where Phil Ivey is asking me if he played his hand well?'"
