The Asian Poker Tour will land in South Korea later this month with over $3.4 million in guaranteed prize pools and more opportunities to win seats to November's APT Championship from September 26–October 5.
More than 100 tournaments will be packed into ten days at Jeju Shinwha World, including satellites, mega-field Lion Trophy events, and everything in between on the beautiful island off the southern coast of South Korea.
Another Main Event record?
Last year's series set a South Korean tour record for its Main Event turnout, only to be pipped by the APT Incheon Main Event last month with 1,281 entries. This month's Jeju series threatens to take back the hot potato title as the tour grows both stops year after year.
The schedule is packed with 103 events, all leading up to the Main Event from Sept. 28–Oct. 4. The APT Jeju Main Event is a KRW 2.6M (~$1,860) buy-in with a KRW 2.2 billion (~$1.5 million) guarantee. It's one of three of the Lion Trophy events, joining the APT Super High Roller's KRW 15M (~$10,750) buy-in and the APT High Roller's KRW 7M (~$5,000) buy-in to headline the series with big guarantees and added seats to the APT Championship.
In all, the total guarantees across 103 events add up to KRW 4.9 billion (~$3.4 million). Other high stakes tournaments include the $25K Superstar Challenge and the $7K Baby Superstar Challenge, spanning Sept. 26–30.
All roads lead to Taipei
The Jeju stop is the last chance to grab one of the tour's added seats to the APT Championship in Taipei on November 24. Seven $10,000 seats have been added across several tournaments, starting with the usual bonus for finishing in the top three of an APT Main Event. Additionally, winners of the APT Super High Roller, the Superstar Challenge, the APT High Roller, and the Zodiac Classic will pick up a ticket to Taipei.
