Until this past WSOP series, Darren Elias had been one of the game’s best without a coveted WSOP bracelet. That streak ended this past summer when Elias took home the gold in the WSOP 888 NLH online event for $170,208.
This year, the BetMGM Ambassador has captured two titles: the recent PokerGO Tour’s Poker Masters #4 and the $10K NLH High Roller Deepstack event at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. Elias also holds the record for the most World Poker Tour titles, with four, and has live career earnings of more than $14 million, as well as $8 million online, according to The Hendon Mob.
'How can you not love a true story?'
Elias, like many of us, has read a lot of poker books over the years. We caught up with him to get the scoop on his favorite page turner.
My favorite poker book is probably The Professor, The Banker, and The Suicide King by Michael Craig.
I always gravitated more towards these types of poker books than anything strategic.
I remember reading this book in 2005 as a young aspiring poker player and enjoying the insight into what the world of high-stakes poker looked like.
There were also a number of anecdotes and tales of well known players from that time, which I found fascinating. And how can you not love a true story about one of the largest cash games of all time?
Runner-up would go to Positively Fifth Street by James McManus.
