The first WSOP Circuit Main Event in Atlantic City in six years ended after less than four hours on the final day as Bohdan Slyvinskyi ran over the table with his big stack to win the $177,562 top prize and his first WSOPC Circuit ring.
The 47-year old from Ukraine took the big chip lead after winning a huge three-way all in with twelve players left. It was his tournament from that point on as he just grew his chip stack all the way to the final day where entered with a big chip lead out of the seven players left.
Redemption for the champ
Sylvinskyi laid waste to his opponents, eliminating all of them except one as the field went down to heads-up play in less than two hours. It was there that the smooth sailing hit a bit of a rough patch as runner-up Demetrus Campbell was able to double up twice in big hands to get the stacks to even.
Campbell had a chance to win it after pulling ahead slightly in chips, but he could not overcome Slyvinsky’s ace-king and he was decimated. From there the Ukrainian finished it off after a few more hands.
This win is sweet redemption for Slyvinskyi as he was denied his first ring earlier this year in April in Elgin, IL in brutal fashion. He held a staggering 173:1 heads-up chip advantage against Ha Nguyen, who was down to a third of a big blind in the Mini Main Event. But he was unable to close it out after a stunning comeback from his opponent and he had to settle for runner-up.
This $177,562 cash is the best of Slyvinskyi’s career, topping the previous best of $111,740 from a sixth-place finish in the 2024 WSOP Colossus. This result will move him past $850,000 in career winnings, according to The Hendon Mob, which will put him into the top 25 on Ukraine’s all-time money list.
