Triton Poker’s hot streak of record-breaking events continues. After booming turnouts in Jeju, the series has shattered another record — this time in Montenegro.
The $200K Invitational that started on Monday is officially the largest in Triton's history, with 48 pairs and 96 unique players registering.
Thomas Santerne bagged the chip lead from a crowded Day 1, where the field was split into pros and VIPs competing in separate flights. The pros got the tougher side of the deal today and were only allowed to re-enter once. The VIPs could fire three bullets but will be up against stiffer competition when the field merges for Day 2 on Tuesday.
86 players remain from the 132 total entries. As expected, the field is stacked with players like Fedor Holz (11th), Artur Martirosian (21st), Phil Ivey (34th), Bryn Kenney (35th), Kristen Foxen (42nd) and Jason Koon (54th) all still in the hunt.
Gambledore, Antonius advance as $200K Invitational heats up
All eyes will be on Vladimir Korzinin aka Gambledore, tomorrow. The amateur who wowed at Monte Carlo at the tail end of last year, winning close to $8 million in two massive scores, is back on the Triton stage and he'll be returning with the 19th largest stack, worth 82 big blinds.
Korzinin finished second to Patrik Antonius in the last Triton Invitational in November, winning $3,470,000, before taking down the $150K event for $4.35 million — in just his fourth ever recorded cash.
Antonius is still in this one, too, but at the other end of the chip counts with a stack of 219,000 (27bbs). You can find the full chip counts on the Triton Poker site.
Day 2 of the $200K Invitational kicks off at 12pm CET on Tuesday. You can watch the full broadcast live on the Triton Poker YouTube channel. In the meantime, you can catch up with everything that happened on Day 1 below.
