Not your average tournament series

Ask anyone who’s played at the Irish Poker Open and they’ll tell you: It’s not your average tournament series.

Yes, 2026 has 86 different events. There’s a €2.5M guarantee for the Main Event, plus two other €1M GTD tourneys. There are 50 cash game tables running around the clock.

But what comes up again and again is the unique atmosphere of the festival.

Could that be down to the daily shenanigans at the famous ‘Craic Den’, the often-raucous bar area the series has become known for?

Perhaps, but it’s clearly much more than that.

2025 Main Event winner Simon Wilson dove head-long into the crowd after the final hand. 2025 Main Event winner Simon Wilson dove head-long into the crowd after the final hand.

“Honestly, the Irish Open, I wouldn’t miss it for the world. It’s one of the few events of the year that everyone likes to come around… the event’s just getting bigger and bigger, so there’s no reason not to be a part of it.”

These aren’t the words of a player or even an owner, but dealer Abda, speaking in the documentary about why even the staff look forward to this one more than others.

Winner of the Best Stand-Alone Festival category at the 2025 Global Poker Awards, the Irish Poker Open is on many players’ bucket lists for a good reason.
