Paul Pierce is set to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on September 11 as part of the 2021 Hall of Fame class. Pierce was a 10-time NBA All-Star and was the NBA Finals MVP in 2008 when he helped lead the Boston Celtics to an NBA Championship. The former Celtic is also an avid poker fan, and he will be putting his poker skills on display this Monday night on Hustler Casino Live.
Pierce made a fairly deep run in the World Series of Poker Main Event back in 2014. Pierce was eliminated in around 800th place that year, outlasting thousands of players in the 6,683-person field. He finished just off of the money as the 2014 Main Event paid the top 693 finishers.
More recently, Pierce was featured on an episode of Poker After Dark that debuted on August 20, 2019. Pierce played with a handful of big stars in his time on the show including Phil Hellmuth, Tom Dwan, Mike Sexton, Rob Yong, and Jennifer Tilly.
Poker was also at the forefront when Paul Pierce was fired from his ESPN analyst job earlier this year. ESPN decided to lay Pierce off after the former small forward live-streamed a video of himself playing in a poker home game with friends that appeared to include strippers, alcohol, and weed. Pierce didn’t seem to be too bothered by ESPN’s decision to let him go, posting a video of himself laughing on Twitter in a post that said “big things coming soon”.
