On last week's High Stakes Poker livestream, Andrew Robl set the poker world aflame when he correctly laid down the second nut flush on the river. From the commentary booth, Nick Schulman labeled the move as "the best fold of all time," and later defended his take against the "civilians" who thought it was a trivial decision.
While Schulman may well be right, Mike Leah has thrown his hat into the ring with a hero fold of his own in the WSOP Europe €2,200 Turbo Bounty event.
It wasn't for a high six-figure pot, but it was an impressive fold nonetheless – check it out in the video above.
Leah: I hope I can do a Robl
In the face of a raise from early position and a flat from the small blind, Leah defended his big blind with – covering both players.
"I did consider just squeezing or punting it in preflop because I have queen-eight suited and there are bounties in play," Leah told PokerOrg's Chris 'Lefty' Land in the aftermath of the hand.
On the flop, the action checked through to the
turn and Leah opted to lead into the field for a half-pot sizing. Both opponents made the call and the river
completed the board – and Leah's flush.
Leah bet again on the river, choosing an overbet sizing to force the original raiser all-in.
"He called fairly quickly and then the small blind pretty quickly moved all-in, which caught me off guard obviously," Leah continued.
With a boatload of chips in the middle, two bounties on the line, and a tantalizing price to call, Leah had plenty of reasons to flick it in and hope for the best – but he knew better.
"I hope I can do a Robl," Leah said in the moment, referring to Robl's decision on High Stakes Poker.
After a few more moments of agonized thought, Leah sent his queen-high flush face up into the muck – and saw the good news as the original raiser rolled over and the small blind showed
.
"You actually did your Robl, huh?" joked tablemate Niklas 'Lena900' Astedt. "What the f**king runout was that?"
As the dealer sorted out the pot, a satisfied grin spread over Leah's face.
"I knew the opener had a really good hand. Do I think he has me beat? I don't know, but then the small blind just has to have a very good hand," Leah explained.
So, with two impressive folds on the books already this year, there's only one question to ask: is 2026 shaping up to be the year of the hero fold?
