PokerStars PA and PokerStars NJ offering simultaneous online tournament festivals in January
Online poker players in New Jersey and Pennsylvania can enjoy plenty of in-state tournament action over the course of the next 12 days.
Both PokerStars Pennsylvania and PokerStars New Jersey are set to run separate versions of the Winter Series. The PokerStars PA Winter Series is only available to players in Pennsylvania, while the PokerStars NJ version of the festival is exclusively offered to New Jersey players.
Both series run Jan. 21-31, and offer a combined $1.5 million in guaranteed prize pools. Players should note that the series is running as two separate festivals on PokerStars U.S.-based platforms and that the Winter Series isn’t accessible on the PokerStars international client.
Registration and tournament details for the PokerStars PA Winter Series
Pennsylvania grinders interested in playing the PokerStars PA Winter Series can do so by going through the following steps:
Download the PokerStars Pennsylvania client: The PokerStars PA online poker client can be accessed via desktop browser, as an Apple iOS app, or as an Android app. To download the desktop client, navigate to the www.starsmtairycasino.com website and click on the “Download PokerStars” link.
Apple iOS users (iPhone, iPad) can find the PokerStars PA app in the App Store, or through the “Play on mobile” link at the bottom left of the PokerStars PA homepage. Android users must download the app through the “Play on mobile” link, as the Google Play store doesn’t allow for downloads of real-money gambling apps for Android.
Make a deposit: Once you’ve downloaded PokerStars PA, navigate to the “Cashier” tab to make your first deposit. The “Cashier” link is located at the top-right of the lobby if you’re using the desktop client.
Choose Your Winter Series Event: Once you’ve deposited funds, click on the “Winter Series” tab to bring up the full slate of the festival’s events. The Winter Series offers 45 different tournaments, culminating in the $300 buy-in, $200,000 guaranteed Main Event starting Jan. 31.
Note: PokerStars PA can be downloaded from anywhere, but you must be located within Pennsylvania borders while you play. The site’s geolocation services will block players who try to play from outside the state.
Registration and tournament details for the PokerStars NJ Winter Series
The download and registration process for the New Jersey version of the Winter Series is the same as it is in Pennsylvania. New Jersey players will need to make sure they download the PokerStars New Jersey client, however, and not the PokerStars Pennsylvania platform.
Download the PokerStars New Jersey client: The desktop version of PokerStars NJ is available for download at www.pokerstarsnj.com. Apple Ios users can find the iPhone/iPad app by searching for “PokerStars New Jersey” in the App Store.
Note that PokerStars New Jersey and PokerStars Pennsylvania are separate apps. Android users can find their version of the app by navigating to the “Play on mobile” link at the bottom left of the PokerStars NJ homepage.
Make a deposit: The “Cashier” link can be found at the top right of the lobby if you’re playing on the PokerStars NJ desktop client. Deposit options include online banking, PayPal, debit card, and other methods.
Choose Your Winter Series Event: Click on the “Winter Series” tab just below the “Cashier” link to open the menu of all Winter Series events. The $300 Main Event ($100,000 guaranteed) begins on Jan. 31 and plays as one of 40 tournaments in the series.
Note: The cash games and tournaments at PokerStars NJ are only accessible to players in New Jersey. You don’t have to be a New Jersey resident to play, but you must be located within New Jersey borders while you’re playing the games.
