Faraz Jaka, one of the game's most respected players and coaches, will break down key hands from rising star Terrance ‘TJ’ Reid’s fourth-place finish for a career high score at the 2025 WSOP Paradise $25K Super Main Event.
The two players will sit down for a special live session on Wednesday, January 28 at 5pm PT. Ahead of this, we caught up with the pair to find out what you can expect.
How deep runs actually happen
During the free livestream, Faraz will review many of the key hands Reid played during his deep run in the WSOP Super Main Event
“Terrance had an epic run in the WSOP Bahamas,” says Jaka. “He won $3,000,000 and took down fourth place, while I finished in 13th for $520,000.
“During this livestream, TJ and I are going to analyze the key hands and spots from a high level in regard to how other players can get prepared for an event like the WSOP Super Main and Main Event, as well as a WPT or MSPT Main."
Reid was quick to point out that JAKAcoaching was the first training site he invested time in when first starting to study tournament poker.
“Faraz has been around the game forever and thinks about the game in an exciting, creative way, with solid fundamentals,” says Reid.
“What sets him apart is his ability to communicate concepts in a very simple, understandable way. But he's also focused on our poker community by hosting live Q&A sessions that force people to express their thoughts and explain why they're thinking certain things during a tournament. That’s how we grow.
“Instead of just passively watching a lesson, you're actually engaging in the discussion with Faraz and myself this Wednesday. That type of participation is rewarding because it forces players to express what their thought processes are instead of just quietly hiding in the corner.
“If you’re just getting into tournament poker, Jaka Coaching's website contains basic videos which are very valuable ranging up to super advanced strategies. It’s a great learning path for players of all levels.”
Inside the decision-making, not the results
“I'm going to see 90 percent of the hands TJ played during our review on the upcoming livestream on Wednesday,” says Jaka. “I'm going to be giving TJ feedback in real time and asking him, 'What were you thinking in this or that particular spot? Why did you do this there?'
“We'll be going back and forth with the thought process behind the decisions he made. And of course, we're going to tell people in the live chat to chime in with their questions as well.
“What I'm most impressed with so far with TJ, from the few hands I've seen, is how he plays with a lot of confidence. He figures out what he wants to do very quickly.
“He shared a hand with me where he made a huge all-in bluff. He told me, ‘I had no pressure because my decision's done.’ A lot of people are scared and nervous in those spots. Terrence is very calm and poised at the table, even in these big moments, where it’s important to be able to pull the trigger. It's something that's hard to teach.”
