The Moneymaker Tour Main Event at the Caribbean Poker Series in Aruba came to a close on Sunday, September 28. The $1,700 buy-in drew a field of 353 entrants to generate a prize pool of $529,500 – smashing the $300,000 guarantee set for the tournament.
In 2024, the first Moneymaker Tour venture to Aruba saw Katie Lindsay rise above a 325-entrant field to claim the $102,915 first-place prize – her first six-figure cash.
When the final hand was dealt this year, Aruban Pieter Susebeek held all the chips to triumph over the field and claim the $120,557 first-place prize. With the victory, Susebeek rocketed to the top spot on the Aruba All-Time Money List and instantly doubled his career tournament earnings. Along with his earnings, Susebeek took home the Moneymaker Main Event trophy and a Caribbean Poker Series ring.
"I'm happy to take it down here, in my island Aruba. It means a lot to me," Susebeek told PokerOrg reporters.
Susebeek played well to outlast the final table, but his run came with a dosage of luck as well – most notably when he cracked the pocket aces of eighth-place finisher Kevin McCormack to earn a key double up.
When play reached the heads-up stage, Susebeek took a commanding chip lead into heads-up play against Ryan Ramsdell and managed to close out the win in short order.
