Ingram looking for matches following his Bally’s Power Poker Series win
Three weeks ago, Poker.org contemplated Joey Ingram’s status as the potential new face of heads-up No-Limit Hold’em. That assessment came in the wake of Ingram’s victory in the Bally’s Power Poker Series $400 heads-up event.
While that live tournament appearance marked a rare public poker outing for Ingram, the pursuit of heads-up greatness appears to be an ongoing venture. Ingram tweeted Sunday that he’s looking for heads-up opponents in an effort to grow as a heads-up No-Limit Hold’em player.
“I need to find some people to play HUNL sessions against at mid stakes to help me see how my game is coming along,” Ingram tweeted. “(G)otta test myself against someone else besides the bots.
“Also – looking for a platform to play games on.”
Potential challengers offer to play Ingram
The tweet prompted several willing opponents to accept Ingram’s challenge. The poker community could be in for a unique series of matches, as Ingram steps out of his usual role as a poker content creator and Pot-Limit Omaha specialist.
Hyped-up heads-up challenges have taken over poker in 2021, with the Fedor Holz vs. Wiktor “Limitless” Malinowski match taking poker center stage at the moment. Ingram, not known for playing much of any format in No-Limit Hold’em, surprised the poker world by taking down the Bally’s Power Poker Series $400 No-Limit Hold’em heads-up event last month.
That tournament happened after the conclusion of the Doug Polk vs. Daniel Negreanu heads-up challenge, in which Ingram provided more than 100 hours of live commentary on his YouTube channel. Polk’s $1.2 million win against Negreanu appears to have inspired the standout content creator to venture into the heads-up no-limit streets.

“I’m in,” wrote Berkey in a succinct reply. Ingram accepted the invitation from Berkey, and an Ingram vs. Berkey matchup could potentially yield one of the more interesting heads-up challenges we’ve seen this year.
Commentator and TuckOnSports.com founder David Tuchman also threw his name into the ring to play against Ingram:
“I’ll play you. It’ll essentially be a donation as my HU game is mediocre at best, but it’ll give me motivation to study a little,” Tuchman tweeted. Ingram also accepted that challenge, as it appears he’ll be busy with his new venture into heads-up play in the upcoming months.
Another possible challenger for Ingram is Benny Glaser. Glaser is a three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner and one of the most well-rounded players in the world, but admitted to not playing much heads-up No-Limit Hold’em recently:
“I'd potentially be interested for some fun,” Glaser tweeted. “(I haven't properly played HUNL in years).”
Even among the growing number of heads-up challenges unfolding in the poker world, Ingram’s newest foray makes for must-see viewing. Can the biggest advocate for the “great game of Pot-Limit Omaha” conquer the HUNL streets?
