The popular WSOP Europe destination experiences a bloody poker melee
A fight can happen even at the fanciest places. A poker tournament during one of the final days of the Balkan Poker Circuit at King’s Casino in the Czech Republic - one of the first locations offering live poker after closure due to the coronavirus pandemic - ended up in a bloody fight that was caught on video and uploaded to YouTube. At some point during the event, there were chairs swinging and people running, looking for the doors.
King's Casino is quite a popular place for poker in the old continent; it is actually the home to the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) and one of the few land-based locations where poker fans play large-scale multi-table tournaments. According to a person who shared his experience of the occurrence in a poker forum, the beginning of it was even more shocking than what can be seen in the video. "I was sitting at the very next table (1 meter) away," wrote the witness. "As if out of nowhere, very suddenly within 2 seconds a player got up and hit his [fist] on another player’s head five times or more. Never seen something. Very aggressive. The blood spattered all over the table. The victim fell over and the offender continued to hit him. The victim had a hole in his head."
He added that the first victim was taken to the hospital due to severe injuries and the initiator of the fight was taken into custody by the police. While this massive event was taking place at King's, a video showed hundreds of players in the tournament area without following the recommended safe and healthy protocols like wearing facemasks; however, Czech Republic already lifted the facemask requirement for people on July 1, according to information shared on the post.
