Imagine you're in a foreign country, at the airport preparing to leave. Suddenly, you realize that you've lost your bag containing all the valuables you need to get home. Your visa, passport, and other important documents. What do you do?
Well, it's obvious, isn't it? You jump into Lex Veldhuis' Twitch stream and ask for help.
If it sounds far fetched, well, it's not. That's precisely what happened to Nadia, AKA @KaboomPoker1, a few days ago.
While in Germany, Nadia left her bag on a bus headed from Frankfurt to Munich. Nadia herself was on the way out of the country via Frankfurt Airport when she realized the mistake. Alas, it was too late for her to do anything, the bag was Munich bound and, potentially, lost forever. The story doesn't end there, though.
A hero steps up
Nadia's call for help did not go unanswered. Lex echoed her story to his Twitch poker chat, hoping that someone in the community would step to the fore. And they did.
Andy, known in the Twitch streets as Nci__, was in Munich and offered his assistance. Despite not knowing Nadia, with no promise of reward, Andy took up the task of finding the missing bag.
Three hours later, the bag was located and secured. Lex was adamant that Andy receive something for his good deed and offered him two free training course bundles on BBZ Poker.
Stories like this one remind us that the poker community can be a force for good. Andy's selflessness and dedication to others in times of crisis reinforce our faith in humanity.
There are good people in poker, lots of them. You hear less about them, however, because the bad actors get the clicks and generate the outrage. Amidst the ego, degeneracy, and amoral behavior that often seeps into poker, there is also kindness, generosity, and humanity. Let's be sure to remember that and do more to highlight these instances of good.
