Local champ topples big turnout at Casino Niagara for $127K

The first of Casino Niagara’s quarterly $1,200 Main Events added the latest huge offering to what’s already been a great start to the Canadian tournament schedule, with Brett Goodall of Guelph, Ontario claiming the $127,264 first prize.

This past weekend’s event saw 678 entries build a $690,543 prize pool, as Goodall joined WSOPC Calgary’s Main Event winner Senthuran Vijayaratnam ($396,656) and Playground WPT Global Winter Classic champ Jason Law ($119,475) as six-figure Canadian tournament winners in the first two months of the year.

Goodall for it all

Prior to his win this past weekend at the Niagara Falls poker hotbed, Goodall’s best-ever tournament result was a third-place finish in the 2025 WSOPC Toronto Seniors event for $14,929. In his victory, Goodall defeated a well-known face at Playground heads-up for the title, as Anderson Frank-Graham also earned his largest career score for the second-place finish and claimed $89,225.

With no WSOP Circuit series scheduled in Toronto this spring, this event and Casino Niagara’s Spring Main Event from May 19-22 will offer Ontario’s largest tournament prize pools in the front half of the 2026 calendar. 

Major events coming up across Canada

There will also be plenty of big-money opportunities for tournament players across the country over the next couple of months, with major events in Regina, Montreal, and Calgary, as the 2026 Canadian poker calendar heats up with the weather as spring finally approaches.

  • Casino Regina’s Station Poker Classic runs from March 17-21, featuring events ranging from $500 to $1,800. November’s Harvest Poker Classic saw Brian Friesen win $121,220 for taking down that series’ Main Event.
  • Playground’s first WSOP Circuit series takes place from March 23 to April 7, offering over $5,500,000 in guarantees with a $2,500,000 Main Event guarantee. November’s edition crowned Kliment Tarmakov its champion for $481,500.
  • Deerfoot Calgary hosts the Spring Super Stack series from April 8-19, featuring a $1,500 Main Event. Last year’s edition was won by Yuxin Liu for $91,147.
