Two more bracelets have been won at WSOP Paradise.
The $50K PLO event at WSOP Paradise was packed with drama, with Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu busting out just before the money and Martin Kabrhel doing his best to wind everybody up.
Kabrhel made the money but hit the rail in 16th for $105,000.
Jason Mercier and Jesse Lonis also fell before the final table, leaving Josh Arieh looking for his eighth WSOP bracelet and Stephen Chidwick looking to take another big chunk out of Bryn Kenney’s lead at the top of the all-time money list.
Both would fall short – Arieh in fifth and Chidwick in fourth.
Texas Mike denied third bracelet heads-up
Andras Nemeth was the chip leader three-handed, with Charles Hook and Michael 'Texas Mike' Moncek standing between him and the $1,456,000 first prize.
Nemeth was guaranteed to surpass $10 million in live earnings regardless of his final position, but he was on the lookout for his first bracelet – as was Hook. Moncek was chasing his third bracelet and his first since the 2023 WSOP.
Nemeth was the first to drop after running into Hook's aces. Hook started heads-up with a narrow advantage, but Moncek quickly built up a 13.4 million to 3.5 million lead.
Hook battled back and then took control of the tournament in a huge hand with the two players all-in on a flop.
- Hook:
- Moncek:
The turn gave Moncek an open-ended straight draw, but the
river left Hook with an overwhelming chip lead.
The two players were all-in next hand, and Hook's beat Moncek's
on the
runout.
