Oscar-winning movie man Martin Scorsese is returning to Las Vegas for an eight-episode Netflix series set in the modern day gambling capital. Scorsese will be joined on the untitled project by Rounders co-writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who created the Showtime series Billions.
The show follows Robert 'Bobby Red' Redman, a casino president navigating what a Netflix press release calls a "modernized but still dangerous version of the legendary city."
Trio returns to Las Vegas
Koppelman and Levien will write and produce the show, along with serving as the day-to-day showrunners. They made their screenwriting debut with the beloved poker classic Rounders, and they've also tackled Las Vegas with their screenplay for Ocean's Thirteen. As for Scorsese, this isn't the first time he's gone head first into dangerous gambling settings for prestige television. He was an executive producer for the Prohibition-era Atlantic City series Boardwalk Empire, which ran for five seasons on HBO. Not to mention the cinema classic Casino.
The announcement was also shared on X by Maria Konnikova, who has been holding an unspecified role under her hat since the summer.
No word on casting yet, but the series is greenlit for eight episodes. We'll keep an eye on the developments.
