After a limited screening last summer in Las Vegas and a release on Amazon Prime, the full-length documentary on poker pro Mike 'The Mouth' Matusow has been released for free on YouTube, on the Indie Rights Movies For Free channel. You can watch it in full above.

Simply titled Matusow, the two-hour documentary, directed by Frank Zarrillo, chronicles his life from the glory days as a Full Tilt pro to the struggles he's endured since that site was shut down as part of poker's Black Friday in April 2011.

Matusow has over $10 million in career earnings and has won four WSOP bracelets, the last in 2013. He finished runner-up to Marcin Horecki in a WSOP seven card stud event in 2023, and he's now been nominated for the Poker Hall of Fame 10 times without being inducted.

Is Matusow worth watching?

But is Matusow worth your time? That depends on who you ask.

PokerOrg editor-in-chief Brad Willis had this to say on Ask the Org: "I rented the Matusow documentary on Amazon Prime. Cost me $2.95, and I feel fine saying I got my money's worth. What the film lacks in production and well-crafted narrative, it makes up for in behind-the-scenes access and explanations for lots of stories we've only known bits and pieces about in the past."

Chris 'Lefty' Land replied to Brad, saying, "Overall, 3.5/5 stars. Sharing his life with such candor and openness took a lot of courage and is not an easy thing to do. Well done, Mike!"

His longtime friend Phil Hellmuth was brimming with his trademark #POSITIVITY in a post soon after its release on Amazon, saying, "After a tumultuous run involving drugs and high-stakes sports betting, Mike Matusow rebuilds his life, one brick at a time. Does his family support his rebirth?"

But the reviews aren't all good. Well-known film buff and PokerStars ambassador James Hartigan was not so complimentary. In the short video review that you can watch below, he says, "I don't want to have to force anyone else to watch this."

The good news? You don't have to put your money where 'The Mouth' is now that it's free. Give it a go and if you're more Hartigan than Willis, you can just click over to the PokerOrg YouTube channel and watch something more interesting instead.
