Australia’s Michael Addamo isn’t generally one for interviews, promotional appearances or online beefs. At the tables he’s usually a quiet, measured, aggressive and highly dangerous opponent.
How dangerous? He just won the weekly $10K GGMillion$ tournament online at GGPoker for a $433,610 payday.
And even more impressively, the victory marks the 9th time he’s taken this tourney down.
The Australian #1 has amassed over $24M in live tournament earnings in his career so far. Those results include multiple WSOP bracelets, EPT and Triton high rollers, PGT events, the Aussie Millions and more.
Online results aren’t tracked in the same way, of course. If they were, Addamo’s lead at the top of the Australia all-time money list woul surely be even greater than it already is.
7 of 8 fall to the champ
Addamo reached the final table placed 6th of nine with a stack of 28bb, some way behind chip-leader Pedro Neves who had more than 100bb to play with.
Two eliminations later — both big pots won by Addamo — he had pushed his way to the front of the pack. Addamo then went on to wield his chip lead with the precise aggression he’s become known for, knocking out the next three players to thin the field down to four.
Neves scored the next KO, and looked the only player capable of stopping the Addamo steamroller, but that was not to be. The Aussie knocked out China’s ‘Jokerwang777’ in third to start heads-up play against Neves with a 7:1 chip advantage.
It wouldn’t take long for him to turn that advantage into a statement win, earning his $433K the hard way by eliminating 7 of his 8 opponents at the final table. Neves collected $326K for his runner-up finish.
