The brand new Moneymaker Poker Tour has announced the third stop in its debut season, a 12-day visit to Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati from September 21 through October 2, 2023. The 12-day festival features 18 separate trophy events and marks the Moneymaker Poker Tour's first foray outside of Florida following two highly successful stops in the Sunshine State.
The tour was created earlier this year by Moneymaker, the 2003 WSOP Main Event Champion and current Team Pro for ACR Poker, and veteran tournament director Tony Burns, who serves as the Moneymaker Poker Tour's Executive Manager. The upcoming Hard Rock Cincinnati stop will be the new tour's largest effort to date, offering more than $2 million in guaranteed prize money over the course of its 12-day run.
“Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati is excited to host Chris Moneymaker and his first Moneymaker Tour stop in the Midwest in the Hard Rock Event Center,” said Chris Herbert, Poker Room Manager at Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati."
The series offers some intriguing elements, with satellites beginning as low as $86 for one special event on the schedule, an "Older than Moneymaker" satellite on the morning of September 25 offering seats into that day's trophy event of the same title. The Older than Moneymaker tourney is senior-themed, being open to players age 47 and up. A counterpoint "Younger than Moneymaker" event, open to players 46 and younger, will also be offered during the series.
Buy-ins for the 18 trophy events range from $300 to $2,200, the latter figure being the entry fee to a high-roller NLH event that begins on October 1. The headline tourney, however, is the $1,500 main event, which offers four separate starting flights from Wednesday, September 27 through Saturday, September 30. The event will offer a million-dollar guarantee.
Other trophy events on the Moneymaker Tour Hard Rock Cincinnati slate include a mystery-bounty tourney with a $600 buy-in and a $500,000 guarantee. The mystery bounty kicks off the stop's trophy-event action and with six separate starting flights -- two flights per day for each of the series' first three days -- it dominates the early part of the Cincinnati series.
Two other bounty events run later in the series. While several events feature no-limit hold'em, Omaha variants appear numerous times, including a $1,500 PLO high-roller event mid-series and in tandem with NHL in a special tag-team event on the series' first day. The series offers surprising diversity for an 18-event slate, including H.O.R.S.E., Mixed NLH/PLO/5-Card PLO (Big O), and 7-card stud. A ladies event runs later in the series, and non-trophy nightly events are available most nights throughout the series.
The Moneymaker Tour has published a detailed PDF showing the complete schedules for all tournaments to be offered, including the trophy events, satellite offerings, and the separate non-trophy events.
