Leo Margets’ historic run in the WSOP Main Event has come to an end in seventh place. She became the first woman in 30 years — and only the second in WSOP history — to reach the Main Event final table. She was bidding to become the first woman ever to win it.
After two early eliminations — including one on the very first hand — Margets was all-in and at risk against Kenny Hallaert.
She'd called in the small blind with before Hallaert moved all-in with
. Margets had 38 million behind, and she composed herself and made the call. She saw Hallaert's sixes and ran off to her rail, knowing she had to improve to stay alive.
The flop was clean for Hallaert, but the
dropped on the turn, and a huge roar went up in the room.
Margets stood with her rail, not watching the runout. They held her close as the dealer prepared to deal the river. The had given Hallaert extra outs — a six or any spade would now win him the pot and knock out Margets.
And the river was the . Margets asked her rail what had happened, but the reaction to the river would have told her it wasn’t good.
Margets returned to the table to collect her belongings. Her elimination instantly sucked a lot of energy from the room, and the other players lined up to say their goodbyes.
Mizrachi takes chip lead after huge flip
Today's final table hasn't disappointed so far, with huge pots and eliminations from the very start.
Daehyung Lee was eliminated on the first hand of the final table for $1,000,000. He was followed out in quick order by Jarod Minghini in 8th for $1,250,000.
Michael Mizrachi is the current chip leader after winning a monster pot against chip leader John Wasnock. Wasnock had three bet with and Mizrachi four-bet to 30 million with
, committing himself. Wasnock shipped, and Mizrachi called, creating a 151,400,000 pot.
The flop was clean for the kings. The
turn brought some more outs for Mizrachi, but what he didn't know is that he only had three outs in the deck with other cards already discarded. The
river was one of them and saw Mizrachi wheel away and celebrate wildly with his rail.
