After Daniel Negreanu was eliminated from the $100K Triton Main Event on Wednesday, he jumped straight into Day 1A of the WSOP Super Main Event, where he fired six $25K bullets to find a Day 2 stack.
It capped a monster day at WSOP Paradise, with close to 900 entries in the $60 million guaranteed Super Main Event – way above estimates.
Negreanu’s day started with Day 2 of the Triton Main Event, where he had an above-average stack of 545,000. He was eliminated an hour before the dinner break in 57th, with 39 players getting paid.
Negreanu was down to a 10bb stack when he got into a hand with Shannon Shorr, who raised to 50K preflop. Negreanu moved all-in with and Shorr called… with
. That sent Negreanu off in search of alternative entertainment – and he didn't have to look far.
Negreanu jumped straight into the Super Main Event at 6pm, where he burned through his first $25K bullet in 10 minutes, running into

Negreanu: Shots fired
The Super Main Event allows unlimited re-entries, and if you’ve got the bankroll, why wouldn’t you keep firing?
Negreanu re-entered straight away and lost a big pot when he tangled with Michael Wang.
He was then among the first group of players to go on dinner break (the Day 1A field was so big they had to split the field in half so everyone could eat at the buffet) and bust his second bullet when he got back, shoving his stack with and running into aces again – belonging to Bryce Yockey.
Bullet three was fired immediately. And it went the same way. This time, Negreanu ran sevens into nines to send him back into the WSOP+ app for another re-entry.
Sixth bullet the charm?
In all, Negreanu fired six bullets before he found a bag at the end of the night.
This is when they were fired – six in the space of five hours, with five minutes between his fifth and sixth bullet. The WSOP+ app was working overtime for him today.
- Bullet #1: 6pm
- Bullet #2: 6:10pm
- Bullet #3: 9:15pm
- Bullet #4: 9:45pm
- Bullet #5: 10:40pm
- Bullet #6: 10:45pm
He ended the day with 1,105,000, under the average of 1.5 million but still good for 44 big blinds.
Negreanu has said before that he's not a fan of unlimited re-entries, but that while they exist, he'll take advantage of them. And he did that today, ensuring that he'll be there on Day 2A, which plays out on Friday.
But get this – if he busts on Day 2A on Friday, he can fire more bullets on Days 1C and D and then play Day 2B as well on Monday.
It gives a sizeable advantage to players with huge bankrolls, but it's also the only way to get to headline-grabbing guarantees like the $60 million on this event – the largest in poker history.
We didn't think the WSOP had a chance of hitting it. With a huge Day 1A in the bag (869 entries) and the unique staggered Day 2s, we're revising our opinion.
Negreanu is keeping a running tally of his profit/loss numbers on his daily vlog, and with the six Super Main Event bullets thrown in, he’s currently down $233,500. Tomorrow's vlog is now a must-watch.
