A new product could make it easy for casinos and poker rooms to effortless check the temperature of each guest walking through the property doors in a non-invasive manner. eConnect, Inc has announced eClear, a thermal imaging device designed to read temperatures in a self-serve, contact-free manner.
"It has been a very tough time for the hospitality industry," stated Henry Valentino, eConnect's CEO, in a press release. "We are learning about the new best practices and standards being set forth throughout businesses around the country, and eClear will help everyone get back to business. The power of eClear is a quick temperature reading using thermal imaging. In an instant, it also checks for a mask, and then uses face match to enable access."
eClear could become the norm in Las Vegas poker rooms and casinos, and at properties around the world. The product, which can be placed at guest or employee entrances, is designed to be permanently mounted or placed temporarily on a tripod on an as-needed basis.
With a focus on helping to prevent the spread of disease, eClear also includes a facial recognition component that could provide an aggregate count of all entrances and exits. It could also help recognize and alert staff of valuable customers, or those who have been banned —even those who might be wearing face masks.
With many properties on the Last Vegas strip competing for business, the last thing a casino wants is a lineup at its entrances, dissuading visitors from setting foot inside. Automatic temperature check systems could help keep the foot traffic flowing.
The temperature check is just one part of a multifaceted system being developed by poker rooms and casinos in an effort to keep visitors safe from Covid-19. Other methods include fewer open slot machines on the floor and fewer players at poker tables.
