Finnish poker pro and 2024 Poker Hall of Fame inductee Patrik Antonius has joined WePoker, an Asia-facing online poker platform, as both an ambassador and security advisor.
Antonius' addition to the WePoker ambassador team sees him represent the site alongside Phil Ivey and Kristen Foxen, who also signed a deal recently. Antonius summed up the partnership in a tweet: ‘Fair play. Real skills. True players.’
We reached out to Antonius to find out more about his new role.
What will you be doing as part of your new ambassador role?
I'm not just putting my name behind the brand, I'm representing its commitment to fairness, security, and the purity of the game. I will also take part in WePoker's Star Table livestreams, giving more players a chance to play against me and letting viewers experience high-level poker through my perspective. That's one of the platform's standout features. This partnership is built on shared values and I'm proud to stand behind what WePoker is creating.
How do your years of poker experience, both online and live, help with game security online?
Having played poker at the highest levels for over two decades, both live and online, I've seen almost every trick in the book. That experience gives me a strong instinct for when something isn't right. WePoker's Security Guardian system combines cutting-edge data analysis with expert manual review to detect collusion and the use of unfair tools.
My real-game experience helps train the system to better recognize suspicious patterns. When cases are unclear, the team also consults with me to assess them from a player's point of view. Fairness and security are essential to online poker. That's why I joined WePoker – to help create a space where players are protected and the game remains pure.
Do you still enjoy playing online poker?
Absolutely, I still enjoy playing online poker. While I've spent more time at live events in recent years, online poker has always played a key role in my career. WePoker is the number one online poker platform in Asia and its strong commitment to fairness and security is setting a new standard for the industry. I'm proud to partner with a team that isn't just building a product. They're building a better environment for the game. Together, we hope to grow poker in the right direction, with integrity, skill, and respect at its core.
Will we see you representing WePoker at the next Triton stop?
Yes, I am planning to play at Triton Jeju and will be representing WePoker in all events.
What was it about the WePoker project that made you want to work with them?
What drew me to WePoker was their strong stance on fairness and player protection. In today's online environment, this matters more than ever. Beyond the values, they've also built a product that reflects those principles, especially through their Security Guardian system, which actively detects cheating and protects the integrity of poker games. That gave me confidence.
I also really respect the other ambassadors they've chosen. Phil Ivey and Kristen Foxen are world-class players and people I personally admire. A platform's choice of ambassadors says a lot about what they stand for and it told me WePoker is serious about doing things the right way. Most importantly, they invited me to be a part of that mission. This isn't just a sponsorship. It's a chance to contribute to something meaningful and to help shape a better future for the game I love.
