The PokerGO Tour has announced that its upcoming 2024 season, the fourth in the tour's history, will begin in mid-January with a brand new mini-series, the PGT Kickoff. The PGT Tour's Season 4 opener will then be followed with the return of the PokerGO Cup during the last week of January.
Both of the season-opening series will be held in the PokerGO Studio, which sits adjacent to the Aria casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The PGT Kickoff will offer five events during its January 11-16, 2024 eight-day run. The 2024 PokerGO Cup, which runs for ten days, January 25 to February 3, 2024 has eight events on its slate. All events in both series offer PGT leaderboard points to each event's in-the-money finishers.
Kickoff series offers double leaderboard points
PokerGO Tour officials are seeking a way to jumpstart the fourth year of the tour and the return of its season-long leaderboard race. With that in mind, the new PGT Kickoff series will offer doubled leaderboard points in each of its five events, which are otherwise calculated using the PGT's standard points formula.
The series will also focus on a lower price point than most other PGT offerings. The first four events will have a $5,300 buy-in, and only the Kickoff's main event will be higher, with a $10,500 entry fee. All five events are scheduled to run for two days each.
$25,000 bonus for 2024 PokerGO Cup series leaderboard winner
The return of the PokerGO Cup in late January also includes extra incentives, in the Cup's case in the form of a $25,000 bonus for the player who tops the eight-event series by earning the most PGT points. The first three PokerGO Cup series leaderboard winners were Daniel Negreanu (2021), Jeremy Ausmus (2022), and Cary Katz (2023).
The 2024 PokerGO Cup also offers a strict diet of two-day, no-limit-hold'em tourneys. The series begins with another lower-priced event with a $5,300 buy-in, though the rest of the series features five-figure entries. Events two through five of the series have $10,500 buy-ins, events six and seven have entry fees of $15,600, and the series finale has a $25,700 entry.
All events in the PokerGO Cup also feature a $400 "on-time registration" rebate to players who register and take seats at the tables before the first cards are dealt. Each of the eight events in the 2024 PokerGO Cup will also have its Day 2 final table live-streamed on PokerGO from the tour's recently redesigned studio set.
More 2024 PokerGO Tour series will be announced in the coming weeks, including PGT Mixed Games, PGT PLO Series, and the 2024 U.S. Poker Open. Dates for these upcoming series remain to be confirmed and posted to the official PGT schedule page.
“We’re thrilled to enter the fourth season of the PGT and to do so with somewhat of a reimagined approach that will offer more players the opportunity to compete in PGT events,” said Tim Duckworth, PokerGO Director of Live Events. “Together, the added accessibility and improved schedule open the door for a wider group of players to challenge themselves on the felt like never before and we couldn’t be more excited for the best PGT season yet.”
