The PokerGO Tour's Mixed Games II festival wrapped its 10-event run on Saturday, with Louisiana native Walter Chambers taking down the series finale, Event #10, $5,100 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw. Chambers topped a 28-entry field after late-registering the event following his sixth-place bustout in the Mixed Games premiere tourney, the $25,300 10-Game Championship.
Chambers' win was worth $63,000 and came in his third final-table effort of the series. He surged back from short-stack status when the seven-player final table was reached to eventually bust Brazilian star Felipe Ramos for the title. Ramos earned $39,200 for the runner-up finish, while Jonathan Krela finished third and John Riordan claimed the fourth and final money spot.
Chambers began the heads-up duel against Ramos trailing by a 2:1 margin, but an all-in double-up flipped the stacks, and Chambers went on to close out the win. The payday boosted Chambers' recorded live-event winnings to nearly $1.4 million. More than half of that total came in what remains his largest victory, when in 2005 he won the WSOP Circuit's Main Event Championship for over $787,000.
Continuing a PGT Mixed Games theme, Chambers' Event #10 win marked the eighth straight event -- and ninth out of the series' ten total events -- where the trophy went to a first-time PGT winner. Event #10's results left the PGT Mixed Games leaderboard top 10 unchanged, where Max Hoffman had already secured the overall series title with a fourth-place finish in Event #9.
