With less than a week until WSOP Paradise, who's earned a spot on your Pick 3 fantasy team?
If you haven't drafted yet, there's no time like now. We've added another 100+ names to the list of available players. Pick the three players you think will cash for the most money in Event 1: $2,500 Circuit Championship, and if they do, you'll be heading to Paradise via a $30K package with entry to the $60M GTD Super Main Event.
Draft a team now to make sure you're in the mix. You can still make changes up until the Thursday, December 4, 11 am ET deadline. For some pre-draft analysis, we've already given you three players to look out for and five dark horses. Today, we look at three players who are coming into the December series with a hot hand.
Call it momentum, confidence, or luck; these three are feeling it and deserve consideration for a spot on your team.
Pick #1: Shannon Shorr
It's hard to overlook someone of Shannon Shorr's caliber for your team. With over $16M in career earnings according to Hendon Mob, Shorr is one of the most successful players currently on the draftable list. If his reputation isn't enough, he's had some solid scores over the last few months, which should inspire confidence for his owners.
In August, Shorr won the $25K High Roller at Seminole Hard Rock for $352,873. He's since had three more final tables against some quality competition, including a 2nd-place finish in the return of the WPT Shooting Star event. Finally, he came into NAPT Las Vegas and cashed both the High Roller (22nd) and the Main Event (33rd).
Momentum and experience should make Shorr a favorite for a deep run, but he's not without concerns. First, he'll likely show up on many other teams. Currently, he's been drafted 33 times, which is the 12th most among available players. Secondly, it's unclear just how many bullets he'll fire with other options available on the schedule. Despite those potential concerns, you can't go wrong with Shorr as your anchor.
Pick #2: Lee Rzentkowski
Last month, Lee Rzentkowski quietly crossed the $1M mark in live-event earnings. Since the start of September, he's had 12 cashes, with 33rd place being his worst result.
Even more impressive is that four of those 12 results were wins, including his last two events, for $21,892 and $16,200, respectively. With a bankroll boost, consistent deep runs, and hoisting trophies multiple times recently, the Wisconsin native has something working right now. Ride his momentum to a big score for your team. At the time of writing, he's been drafted 15 times.
Pick #3: Michael Khan
We're going to Canada for our final hot player. Michael Khan played a lot of poker at the recent Calgary and Montreal WSOPC series. He cashed eight times in October and November, including five final tables. He won a ring in his most recent event, cashing the C$1K Mystery Bounty in Montreal for C35,842. This opening event in The Bahamas is also a Mystery Bounty, so Khan should feel comfortable in the format.
Separately from his current momentum, Khan also went to WSOP Paradise last year and had a few cashes, including a 46th-place finish in the $2,750 Mini Main, which the Circuit Championship replaces this year. As of now, he's only been drafted four times, so a deep run from him could have a big impact on your team's finish.
