You mean Tinder? We’re talking about those apps that make your poker life a little smoother, not your dating life. The App Store launched almost 18 years ago, and since those early days there are all types of apps to help players do all kinds of things.
Great, I could use some help. What would you recommend? That depends on what you need. If you’re on the live tournament circuit then you might want to look into WSOP+, which has been available for a couple of years now. You can register for WSOP events, see chip counts, a level clock, table draws, payouts and more. The PokerStars Live app launched in 2022 and gives useful updates for EPT and PokerStars Open events, while the Asian Poker Tour app, released in 2025, does likewise for the APT. You can also register for BetMGM events using their app.
Sounds like FOMO waiting to happen. A lot of events take place across the world; you can’t play them all.
Not with my bankroll! In that case it sounds like you could use a bankroll manager. There is a wide range from which to choose, letting you log your hours, games, player notes and winrates, set goals and more. Poker Manager Bankroll Tracker is one, and My Live Poker Tracker is another, but searching for ‘poker tracker’ will bring up a lot of options.
What if I want to just hop down to my local cardroom for a few hours? Then you should definitely check what games are running, and what the waiting lists are like. Apps like PokerAtlas Mobile and BravoPokerLive can help with this, and can even let you join the wait list remotely if your cardroom allows it.
I usually spend more time on the wait list than at the table. In that case, it sounds like you need one of two things: to get better at poker, or to have something fun to do while you wait.
Is one easier than the other? You know it is. Watching poker is fun and untaxing, the perfect way to chill while scratching your poker itch, and seeing better players in action can help you think about your own game. Apps like WatchWPT, Triton Poker and PokerGO bring tons of poker video content to the screen in your pocket.
What about getting better? We’re in a golden age of poker training materials, and you have a wide choice of apps to help you improve. There’s a Run It Once app, where you can watch training videos even in offline mode, while apps like ICMizer and SnapShove let you drill specific scenarios to hone your skills.
What more could a poker player need? Plenty. There are payment apps like Luxon Pay, MuchBetter and EdgeBoost that can make it easier to buy-in at various properties across the world, Venmo to settle personal debts, and XE to nail down currency conversions. Some venues may let you order food to your table, so the likes of DoorDash can come in useful, and if you don’t fancy driving after a long session there’s always Uber. Most large casinos will have their own apps, too, where you can check up on your rewards, make reservations and more.
Jeez, are you working on commission? I wish — I’m just trying to be helpful; there will be plenty of other options for most of the above that may work better for you, so be sure to shop around. And remember that not all apps will be available, depending on where you are in the world. But in these days of always-on connectivity, it’s never been easier to find an app to help you solve a problem with your smartphone.
What’s a smartphone? Hmmm… when you said you needed help, you weren’t kidding.
Do say: “With everything my phone can do now, I don’t even need to carry a wallet.”
Don’t say: “Actually, my battery just died. Does anyone know how I get home from here?”
