Nacho Barbero wasn’t even planning on playing poker in Madrid. He was visiting friends and playing padel before making the trip to North Cyprus for the next Triton stop.

But when there’s a WSOP Circuit Main Event in town, what’s a guy supposed to do?

Barbero fired a very late bullet, spun it up to the Day 1 chip lead and made Sunday's final table, albeit with the smallest stack.

It didn't take him long to flip the script. He picked up pocket aces five times in the first 90 minutes, built a seemingly unstoppable chip lead and looked destined to win his first WSOP Circuit ring.
