After Dan Cates admitted to using another player’s online poker account, he’s becoming an outcast

What started with what seemed like gossip without any supporting evidence escalated into some sort of a surprise confession from one of the most recognized poker players, Dan "Jungleman" Cates. Bill Perkins had started some cryptic accusations on his Twitter account, although he exaggerated a little with his declarations, and asserted that he knew of a player who had been “ghosting” online in a high-stakes game. A week later, Dan “Jungleman” Cates confessed his participation. A recent poll to see where other players fell on the subject has found that many players are not supportive of Jungleman’s actions.

Even if most of the poker pro players out there have shown support to Cates, the rest of the community didn't seem so forgiving. The poll concluded with 36% support for Perkins and 11% for Cates. Also, it is worth mentioning that the poll included an option of "Who cares," which had 30% of the votes.

Jungleman confessed after Dan Bilzerian added to Perkins’ accusations that he was the one player who stole funds from him on that particular game. His confession came shortly after he said that he had played a few hands, but that he was told that everyone else was doing it consciously; therefore, he didn't consider it to be unethical. His statement also included an apology to Perkins.

On top of that, some players and other poker fans commented on Cates declaration, "As a recreational player who has NEVER had anyone ghost my account it is very disturbing to hear the #freejungle. He is not the problem and I like him very much, but to just say it's ok everyone doing it is a travesty for online poker and especially app playing. #cheating is not ok," said Daniel Shak.
