The “Live at the Bike” poker player’s unexpected demise is under investigation
The poker community has been shaken with the most recent news of a poker player who was violently murdered after her body found badly burned in Michigan. After several efforts to identify the victim of this sinister event, the police confirmed that the body belongs to pro poker player Susie Zhao. Her body was found by an individual who came across the burning corpse in a Department of Natural Resources lot in the Pontiac Lake State Recreation Park, Northern Oakland County, Michigan.
"If you've played live in LA in the last decade at the Commerce or Hollywood Park you probably have heard of her," wrote a user on the 2plus2 forum. "She had quite a bit of online/tournament results and was working as the poker host at HPC. This is tragic news; hope they catch whoever did this and bring them to justice. RIP Suzie," the player added in the forum.
Zhao was originally from Beijing and, even though her social media pages said she lives in LA, she moved to live with her parents in Michigan after the quarantine period started due to the coronavirus pandemic, so she was also out of the live poker scene. Her winnings coming from live tournaments are total $224,671, and most of those came from playing World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main events. The biggest win of her career was a 90th place at the 2012 WSOP Main Event where she took home $73,805, according to Hendon Mob. She was also a regular in poker games and even appeared on "Live at the Bike."
