Fedor Holz announces newest acquisition to his poker training academy Tuesday
The Pokercode training academy added cash game material to its planned curriculum on Tuesday, and it’s bringing in one of the world’s elite high-stakes players to teach the new courses.
Steffen Sontheimer joins Pokercode as its newest instructor, with Pokercode founder Fedor Holz making the announcement on Twitter Tuesday. The partnership unites two of the best German players of all time under the Pokercode banner, and expands the academy’s scope to include cash game focused study materials.
Holz, himself a legendary player and the No. 8 all-time tournament winner according to Hendon Mob, credits Sontheimer as the player that taught him the most about poker:
“I’m super stoked that Steffen @RunGo0seRun Sontheimer will join @_pokercode as Head Coach for Cashgame. He’s the player I probably learned from the most in my career, so I’m very excited to have him on our team. The price stays the same, but the value just doubled,” Holz tweeted Tuesday.
Sontheimer brings a resume to the Pokercode roster that includes more than $13.7 million in live tournament earnings. Sontheimer’s career earnings include an unknown figure on cash game profit, but the 30-year-old German superstar is considered one of the best all-around players in the world by virtually all of his peers.
Sontheimer offers a glimpse at what’s in store for Pokercode subscribers
Sontheimer introduced himself on a video that dropped on the Pokercode YouTube channel on Tuesday. In the 23-minute piece, we get a look at Sontheimer’s cash game setup:
Sontheimer sits down for a multi-tabling session that includes PokerStars Zoom, GGPoker, and partypoker high-stakes cash games. The player known as “go0se” under various online aliases is also observing a few other tables to get a feel for the action.
The video gives viewers a look at the intricate setup used by one of the world’s truly elite poker players. Sontheimer joins a PokerCode coaching team that already includes Holz, Matthias Eibinger, and Simon Ronnow.
Sontheimer chronicles his poker journey so far in the YouTube video, including background on how he connected with Holz.
“In 2014, someone just wrote me,” Sontheimer says. “You all know his name; his name is Fedor Holz. He was a kid back then, and he just asked me to join a crew to play poker in Canada in a weird rock star kind of house.”
“He didn’t know me, I didn’t know him. It was all because he liked some forum posts I did in a German poker community.”
Pokercode didn’t give a set date for the debut of Sontheimer’s cash game courses, but the poker community can expect plenty of high-level insights when Sontheimer’s material goes live.
