More than six and a half years after its original hiatus began and over two months since its return was teased at a South American poker festival, PokerStars' Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) will return with a stop in Brazil in March.
Action in LAPT Rio de Janeiro begins on March 2, 2023, with the start of th e first of six events to be held at Rio's Windsor Marapendi Hotel. Though the specific venue wasn't released, PokerStars did promote the LAPT's return with signage displayed in November at a Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) stop in Sao Paolo.
“The LAPT has a special place in the hearts of Latin American poker players and poker enthusiasts, so we’re absolutely thrilled that the tour is back,” said the LAPT's Executive Director, Devanir Campos. “The tour will enable us to bring together former LAPT champions and a new generation of poker players that never got to experience this amazing event.
“The LAPT was never just about playing poker, but also travelling, getting to see and experience different countries and cultures, meeting friends and, ultimately, having a lot of fun.”
The six-event, all-hold'em LAPT series in Rio de Janeiro spans five days before wrapping on March 6. The offerings include high-roller, PKO, and mystery-bounty variants. The complete schedule for LAPT Rio de Janeiro is as follows:
