PokerStars details upcoming '2022 WCOOP Take 2'

Posted on: October 13, 2022 08:34 PDT has announced full details for "2022 WCOOP Take 2", the rescheduling of the core tournaments of its 2022 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) that had to be cancelled in the face of malicious DDoS attacks launched against the site in late September.

Three important sets of events -- the NLHE and PLO main events, plus the Women's Championship -- were forced to be rescheduled as the massive DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack was launched against the site's gaming servers by parties yet unknown. quickly announced that the cancelled events would be re-run in early November, with boosted guarantees, and has now fleshed out details of the replacement offering.

The three sets of championship events, each of which runs in high, medium, and low buy-in versions, will now serve as the centerpieces of 2022 WSOP Take 2, which will run Saturday, November 5 through Wednesday, November 9, 2022. The entire 2022 WSOP Take 2 series will include 66 events and guarantee more than $27.8 million in prize money.

Boosted guarantees for rescheduled events also previously announced that it would boost the guarantees for the cancelled showcase events, while creating a spectrum of satellite opportunities for players. The Take 2 launch announcement confirms that Stars will add a combined $2.5 million to the three NLHE main events beginning on Sunday, November 6, as follows:

WCOOP $109 NLHE Main Event Low – $3m guaranteed – increase of $500,000
WCOOP $1,050 NLHE Main Event Medium – $5m guaranteed – increase of $1m
WCOOP $10,300 NLHE Main Event High – World Championship of NLHE – $7m guaranteed – increase of $1m

The rescheduled PLO Championship also begin on November 6, as will the replacement Ladies Championship events. "We unfortunately had to wait a little while to play these out, but we’re confident it was worth the wait," PokerStars' Howard Swains wrote.
