The PartyPoker Tour wrapped up its return to the United Kingdom on Sunday night, sending off the last of 21 events over the last nine days at Resorts World in Birmingham.

The new era of lower buy-ins, less rake, and no hidden fees kicked off in earnest with a stacked schedule. Tai Hoang was the champion of the flagship tournament, scoring £27,420 in the £500 Main Event. He beat a field of 343 entries and won the largest share of £152,635 prize pool that eclipsed its £100K guarantee with ease. It was the second largest PartyPoker Main Event of the year's four stops after London drew 491 entries in April.

Second time the charm for Hoang

Thailand's Hoang won the Main Event in the shadow of a near miss in the £150 Mini Main Event earlier this week. Robert Douras beat Hoang in heads-up play to claim that tournament before both squared off the final table in this event. Douran would go on to finish fourth after a bad flip against runner-up Jiten Chauhan.

It was a lengthy livestream and it came down to Hoang and Chauhan at the end. The two started with relatively even chip stacks, but Hoang picked up a big pot with a straight that set the momentum in his favor for good.

Both players had limped to a flop when Hoang fired 450K at the 160K big blind level. Chauhan check-called and both players passed through the turn to see on the river. Hoang fired 1.1 million with and Chauhan called with

The wheel straight gave Hoang control of heads-up play and it was all over in the next level. Chauhan, who entered the finale with one of the short stacks, spun it up to a career high score of £18,320.

Mini Main draws big

Elsewhere at PartyPoker Birmingham, the aforementioned Mini Main Event drew 660 entries to set up a prize pool of £82,500 and a win for Douras over Hoang. The event played out over six starting flights and Douras ran all over the final table, knocking out six of the final eight players

The PartyPoker Tour will now pack up and head for its fifth and final stop of the year. The tour has kicked off a new era of live poker, with lower buy-ins, less rake, and zero hidden fees across a wide variety of tournaments for every poker player. Stay tuned for news on the final stop and more.
