Rumour Has It Adel Jo just accomplished something remarkable on the World Series of Poker Circuit. The Miamian won his first ring yesterday in Event #5: $1,100 Mystery Bounty for $56,148. Tonight, less than 24 hours later, he won his second ring.
So nice he won it twice
Twice or it's luck some say, so Jo hopped right back into the action in Event #9: $800 Black Chip Bounty to prove he wasn't Chasing Pavements, even though he didn't plan on playing it. It turned out there was more Hometown Glory waiting for the local player.
"I wasn't going to play because it's my Dad's birthday," said Jo. "But, he had to work late anyway. He told me, 'It's a series, you're on fire; go ahead and take another one down. This is for my dad."
Take it down he did. He won his second ring less than 24 hours later for $14,455. The first ring was his One and Only no more.
"It feels great to win here in my hometown," said Jo. He had a raucous rail throughout, with plenty of support from local friends. They really made him feel the love with strong support from the sidelines.
For both of his wins, his friend Daniel Quesada was there to mob him in the aftermath of the final river card. Quesada was obviously overjoyed for Jo, though he himself will be in Day 2 of the Monster Stack this series.
"It's my turn tomorrow!" said Quesada.
It was such an awesome moment, he just had to relive it the next day, making what some play their entire careers searching for look easy.
"I've had heaters before," said Jo. "But, nothing like this."
In good company this Circuit season
This is now the third time in the last eight stops that a player has won two rings at the same stop. The first was Hamid Izadi in Tulsa and the second Ari Engel in Graton. That's some fine company, though Jo's results speak for themselves.
Can Jo make it three? He plans to play more this series, including the Main Event.
If I ran into him at my table, I'd say, 'Hello Adel, absolute sick run. Now, please, take it Easy On Me," and stay out of his way.
