The final six in the WPT Prime Cyprus $1,100 Main Event hailed from six different countries - none of them the USA - as 1,202 entries created a prize pool of $1,165,940.
The action took place at the Chamada Prestige Hotel & Spa in Kyrenia, Cyprus, and in the end it was Tudor Purice who was the last man standing, taking down the first prize of $183,270.
Purice, of Romania, topped a final table that featured an array of different nationalities and languages; anyone looking to gain an edge using speech play would have needed to employ a number of interpreters. In addition to Romania, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Armenia, Georgia, Turkiye, Austria and Lebanon were all represented at the final table.
Forget GTO Wizard, this was a final table where the DuoLingo app may have proved more useful.
Purice hit the final table second in chips to Yuril Senchylo, who eventually finished in third, and used his experience to navigate all the way to the trophy during six hours of final table play. His prize includes a seat in the WPT World Championship later this year.
