The swings of poker are brutal. As Piers Morgan likes to say, "One day you're the cock of the walk, the next you're the feather duster." And popular vlogger PokerfaceAsh knows just what that feels like.
She's been playing the biggest session of her life at the PokerGO Cash Festival at the Champions Club in Texas this week, alongside players like Maria Ho, Phil Hellmuth and Arden Cho. Things started off well for Ash, including this pot she played against Ho.
However, that was followed up by an absolute stinker (see video above) that led to Will Jaffe tweeting, "This is one of the greatest hands of poker I’ve ever seen." We're pretty sure Ash won't agree, although she did tweet about it, promising an upcoming vlog on it. Look out for that on our Poker Vlogs video channel. It's one of the best things about being a creator. If something really bad happens to you at the table, you can be sure it will make for a spicy bit of content.
"Not like this..."
In the $25/$50/$100 game, Pokerface Ash raises to $700 in a straddled pot with and picks up a call from J-White with . Big Ern comes along for the ride as well with because, well, why not?
The flop comes down and J-White just announces he's all-in. The pot is $2,175 and he jams for another $12,475 on top. With zip. Less than zip, actually. Ash calls – she has J-White covered – and has 94% equity in the hand.
The runout? Well, obviously, the followed by the . J-White flipped his hand after the first five dropped, so at least Ash knew her fate straight away, but, as commentary said, "That is sickening." Indeed.
Variance evens out in poker, but you want to save your run-good for the biggest moments in your career, not the other way around. Ash, we feel for you (but we're looking forward to the vlog!).
