When poker content pioneer Joey Ingram hints that new material is on the way, the poker world listens. And the man behind some of the game’s most iconic podcasts and viral deep dives is now promising a new era of creative storytelling.
PokerOrg tracked down the enigmatic Ingram to uncover what fans can expect from his next chapter and when this new wave of content will drop.
What have you been up to over the last year or so?
I've been studying and playing poker every day, and I’ve been focused on becoming really good at hold'em — and especially heads-up and shorthanded play.
I’ve played a lot of cash game meetups over the past year, but now I’m transitioning into the tournament world. I want to tell the stories behind the battles, whether I'm in the game or not, and tie that in with my podcast.
The podcast is coming back! That’s great news. Your fans have been waiting for you to get back behind the mic.
I've been recording for most of this year and currently have about 10 to 15 episodes done. They’re some of the craziest stories I’ve ever come across. I’ve also got a lot of agreements with people who want to come on.
Can fans expect more of your deep dives?.
I'm still figuring that out. People are pretty crazy in the poker world, and you have to deal with a lot of drama and be prepared to be attacked. It is what it is. When you get in the streets, you take abuse from some of these people. I'm living a peaceful life at the moment. Do I really want to mess with this and start something by opening my big mouth?
So no more investigations?
I was into it at the time. I delved deep and explored various rabbit holes. And I'm still going down those rabbit holes, but I'm less interested in covering them. I don't mind giving my opinion, but getting into the drama is not for me anymore.
What is your quick synopsis of the NBA poker scandal?
This case isn’t really about poker. It seems like poker was used as a vehicle for something else — it’s all about wealth extraction at the end of the day. These guys aren’t trying to win titles or prove they’re the best players. But it’s still a part of the broader poker ecosystem.
Who can we expect to see in your new content?
I’ve got Venividi, who's the PLO goat — one of the true legends of the game. I have the cash game world champion, Owen ‘PRODIGY’ Messere. I also interviewed Rampage, as he’s quickly becoming one of the best content creators out there, and Frankie C, who's also one of the best up-and-coming content creators. He wants to be the Mr. Beast of poker content.
I’m also excited to share my interview with Jeremy Becker as he tries to take that leap from daily grinder to the 10K and 20K events and beyond. And I actually interviewed PokerOrg founder Eric Hollreiser. It was cool hearing his story. We talked about old PokerStars stuff that went down and the current state of poker media. It was a great conversation.
Any other star players on your list?
Jesse Lonis and Seth Davies are on the road ahead. I have a lot of things happening right now. I hope everyone will tune in as I try to figure out how to put it all together. I’ll keep you posted.
