We're onto Day 3 of the Super Main Event in The Bahamas, but a hand between Ryan Depaulo (above), Andre Moreira, and James Caputo blew up into a flurry of finger-pointing during Day 2B.
All the action in this three-way pot happened preflop, with blinds at 25K/50K. Moreira opened to 100K, Depaulo called, and Caputo raised to 200K.
Back to Moreira, who called the extra 100K, before Depaulo pulled the trigger and jammed for 1.1M. Caputo called Depaulo’s shove before Moreira came over the top for a total of around 3M.
And that’s where things got a little weird.
‘I’m all-in with him, not him’
Depaulo posted a video from the table, which starts at the point he goes all-in for 1.1M – you can see the hand play out below.
Having called Depaulo, but not yet put his chips in the pot, Caputo was facing Moreira’s re-shove. “I’m all-in with him,” Caputo can be heard saying in the footage, referring to Depaulo, before adding, “not him.”
“Not with me?” Moreira asked.
“No,” Caputo replied.
“So you fold?” asked Depaulo.
“Yes,” said Caputo, tossing his cards — — on the table face-up, which were scooped up by the dealer to no complaints.
Depaulo asked the dealer to pull in Caputo’s calling chips before revealing his own hand, , versus Moreira’s
.
“I didn’t fold!” Caputo suddenly said, “I’m all-in with him!”
“You folded,” replied Depaulo.
“With him!” said Caputo.
“That isn’t how it works,” Depaulo pointed out.
Caputo's hand was kaput
Caputo was forced to put in his 1.1M in calling chips but was out of the hand. There then followed a heated conversation around Caputo’s intentions, with Martin Zamani in particular arguing that he didn’t intend to fold. An argument that didn’t seem to bear much weight as Caputo announced, seemingly in his own defense, “I didn’t play the side pot.”
But as most of us know, side pots are not optional if you want to stay in the hand.
When the board was finally run, between just Depaulo and Moreira, the former’s kings held. But, wouldn’t you know it, it also brought three diamonds, meaning Caputo would have won the pot had he called both of the all-ins instead of just one.
“F*ck you guys! It’s bullsh*t!” Caputo exclaimed.
PokerOrg was on-hand to capture the moment (and in case you forgot — and we'd understand why — this tournament has a $26,000 buy-in).
Caputo still had chips following the contentious hand, which meant all three players would continue to share a somewhat uncomfortable table for a while longer. However, all three would eventually bust, with only Caputo making a min-cash of $50,000.
The action in The Bahamas will continue throughout the week, with a Super Main Event winner expected to be crowned on Thursday, December 18.
Last year’s winner, Yinan Zhou, scored a $6M payday from a prizepool of $50 million. With 2025’s total of over $72 million, this year’s winner will take home a stunning $10 million.
