Two decades ago, Chris Moneymaker won the most prestigious poker tournament in the world, The World Series of Poker Main Event, via an $86 satellite. The rest, as they say, is history. However, the history books are still being written.
Today, a new page reads: Chris Moneymaker's own tour hosts its first-ever Main Event. The Moneymaker Tour Main Event kicks off today in West Palm Beach, Florida at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. The series, curated in part by experienced Tournament Director Tony Burns, has been a resounding success thus far. Now, it culminates in a deep-stacked, player-friendly, five-day Main Event.
The details
There are three starting flights to choose from; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this week, each starting at 12 pm local time. Day 2 will pick back up on Sunday, May 21st, with the final table played on Wednesday, May 24th.
The $2,500 marquee event features a $500,000 guarantee. Players start with a generous 50,000 starting stack and 60-minute levels. Levels will increase to 90 minutes on Day 3 once they reach 36 players. With unlimited reentry, players may register until the start of Day 2. You can download the full structure via their website.
