Jason Koon set the pace and Daniel Negreanu got a little bit drunk on Day 1 of the 10th Super High Roller Bowl, where 16 entries are in for the last big high roller of the year in Las Vegas.

The price is $100,000 and you can still pay it until the end of the first level on Sunday, where 11 players will unbag to meet the new entrants. Koon is the only player with seven figures, sitting with 1.3 million from a starting stack of 300,000. Other players sit above the starting watermark, like Thomas Boivin, Joao Simao, Sam Soverel, Igor Yaroshevskyy, and Andrew Lichtenberger, while the rest of the leaderboard lost ground in the opening session.

Jason Koon will return with four starting stacks on Day 2. Jason Koon will return with four starting stacks on Day 2.

Negreanu drinks, dazzles

Negreanu, who just returned from The Bahamas, leads the list of those underwater, having finished with 282,000 while putting down a few glasses of wine. The wine likely contributed to some fireworks in the form of a big bluff from the seven timer, who scooped a pot after he pushed Chidwick off the best hand

"Wine is a f**king cheat code," Negreanu told the table. "It's not even fair. It's like a PED (Performance Enhancing Drug)."

Brent Hanks called it unreal, but it wasn't the only flashy play of the day for Negreanu, who would also find a memorable fold in a big spot against Boivin.

It started with a Boivin bet and a Negreanu three-bet, which was called to reveal on the flop. Negreanu had , so he tossed out another bet for Boivin to call with . The turn was and Negreanu continued on, drawing another call from Boivin before the fell on the river. Negreanu fired his biggest bet yet into the flush, 65K, and Boivin returned with all but one of his T-500 chips for a total of 237K.

"Do I have that inner Jesse Lonis in me?" Negreanu asked out loud. "I lose to two combos. Queen-jack of spades and jack-ten of spades."

Kid Poker would eventually trust his read and toss pocket kings in the muck to fight another day.

After Negreanu on the leaderboard is Chidwick, and then Daniel Rezaei. Lonis rounds out the top ten and Cary Katz returns with the low stack on Day 2. Nick Petrangelo, Brandon Wilson, Jeremy Ausmus, Ben Tollerene, and Umang Dattani all failed to find a bag for Day 2, but registration is open for the first 75 minutes on Sunday.

They'll play Level 7 first at 1pm local time with blinds at 2,500/5,000/5,000 and the plan is to work down to a final table of five for Monday. It all happens on PokerGO
