The first live show of the refreshed and refurbished No Gamble, No Future brought together a lineup dotted with some of the most recognizable names in poker.
Tom Dwan. Phil Hellmuth. Chris Moneymaker. Shaun Deeb. Alan Keating. Erick Lindgren.
With the stakes at $100/$200 ($200) and a $25,000 minimum buy-in, it wasn't the biggest game the PokerGO Studio has ever seen, but it certainly provided no shortage of entertainment. Keating, in typical fashion, sat down at the table with $200,000 in front of him while the others all bought in for the table minimum – sending a clear message to his competitors that stacks would be in play at all times.
"Welcome in to a brand new season of the most fun show in poker, No Gamble, No Future," said Nick Wright at the top of the show. The FS1 First Things First co-host made his debut in the commentary booth alongside Brent Hanks and Jared Bleznick after signing on to spearhead the show's transition to a livestream era. And he took his new role to another level altogether.
Around three and a half hours into the livestream, Wright took leave of his commentator's seat and inserted himself into the action – splashing around to the tune of a $17,100 loss.
While Wright's presence in the booth and at the table were highlights of the night, a hand between Dwan and Keating stole the show right
Dwan v Keating: 'One of the most entertaining poker hands'
With the Anti Big Reveal plush toy in front of him – a Wheel of Pain punishment that allows your opponent to reveal one of your hold cards – Dwan limped in for $800 from up front with . Deeb called with
from the straddle before Keating pounced on the perceived weakness with a raise to $7,000 from the double straddle with
.
Dwan called while Deeb sent his cards into the muck and the two players watched on as the dealer spread the flop. Keating continued for $10,000 and Dwan took a moment.
"Look, Dwan is going to call and Alan is going to ask to see a card. Watch!" predicted Bleznick from the booth. "If Dwan produces the eight and turns that card over, Keating is going to bluff it all off because he knows he can't beat more than an ace!"
Dwan did indeed call and the turn brought a gutshot for Keating – all the more reason to keep his foot on the gas as he fired another $25,000 shell. Dwan called again to bring in the
river.
And then Keating shipped it for $109,000 – no asking to see a card, no hesitation.
"Alan, you're an idiot! Look at the card!" screamed Bleznick.
"It might look stronger, it might look stronger," countered Hanks.
As Dwan agonized over the decision, Bleznick made a declaration.
"If this gets through, this will be one of the most entertaining poker hands we've ever watched historically on televised poker history," he said.
And it did get through. After a few minutes in the tank, Dwan sent his cards into the muck and Keating immediately rolled over the bluff before hauling in the $194,200 pot.
